Description: Due to popular demand, Grant Lee Buffalo have added another show here at Largo after a nearly 12 year hiatus.
Famed in the 90s for albums Fuzzy, Mighty Joe Moon, Copperopolis and Jubilee, Grant Lee Buffalo was one of the leading lights of the American alt-rock scene. Now the original GLB line-up of Grant-Lee Phillips, Paul Kimble and Joey Peters have reformed and return for a very special select group of performances beginning in the month of May.
Grant Lee Buffalocame to attention in 1993 with their debut album, Fuzzy. ROLLING STONE magazine called it one of the best debuts of the year, with Phillips receiving the Best Male Vocalist nod from the magazine in 1995. MELODY MAKER crowed “At the rate they’re going…we’ll have to invent a new language to describe how f***ing great this band is,” and the LOS ANGELES TIMES stated “The L.A. folk-punk trio's admittedly off-the-cuff, freewheeling debut has been touted as one of the year's best.”
These type of accolades garnered a still-dedicated following on both sides of the pond, and while they all look upon their time together with great fondness, they never felt a need to reform until now. Says Phillips, "The allure of rediscovering Grant Lee Buffalo has never diminished. Time has allowed each of us to explore, to grow, and to appreciate the rarity of what this band has to offer."
Grant-Lee Phillips (lead vocals/guitar), Paul Kimble (bass) and Joey Peters (drums), spent just six years together, earning the respect of music journalists, audiences and other artists based on four terrific albums and non-stop touring. With an organic and original sound, lyrical brilliance and the shared desire to go out and play incredible music, it was no wonder the BBC declared Grant Lee Buffalo as a band with “sparkling originality.”
Doors open for drinks at 6pm, Show Time 8pm
